PV Nature Public Consultation 1.0 The Public Consultation 1.0 was held in February 2023 and presented PV Nature draft documentation for public review. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to attend the public consultation webinar and provide feedback. We are excited to see the level of positive engagement and interest in PV Nature. We have been using all the constructive feedback to ensure the Standard we produce delivers high integrity and transparency, providing real and measurable benefits for biodiversity, communities and climate. Public Consultation 1.0 Feedback The PV Nature Public Consultation 1.0 closed in February 2023. All feedback can be accessed here: PV Nature Public Consultation 1.0 Feedback > Key feedback from the Public Consultation 1.0 included suggestions to deliver an approach that is: Scientifically credible yet still accessible to local communities Standardised across projects to minimise project-by-project variability Expertly reviewed, auditable via third-party verification and can be rolled out at scale Easy to communicate across all levels of the emerging biodiversity market Updates to the PV Nature Methodology In order to deliver a high integrity Biodiversity Standard which meets the needs of the wider community, Plan Vivo held a second public consultation on a new PV Nature Methodology. The first consultation covered all the key Standard documentation. Significant changes have since been made to the PV Nature Methodology. Plan Vivo therefore felt it was appropriate to open the new PV Nature Methodology to a dedicated public consultation. The methodology presented in the first public consultation was the Wallacea Trust methodology, which pioneered the % change per hectare approach and linked the measurement of this change to a ‘basket of metrics’ approach. The new PV Nature methodology also uses the % change per hectare and species-based approach to generate certificates but takes a different approach to how that % change is calculated. It also includes a set of protocols that standardise how biodiversity data is cost-effectively collected and analysed, ensuring rigour in how biodiversity outcomes are assessed and evidenced, and enabling the full data pipeline to be audited via third-party verification. As part of this next phase, resources are also being developed to support projects in collecting the required data, to ensure the widest possible accessibility. We are currently reviewing responses to the second public consultation on the PV Nature Methodology, which closed on the 4th of September. A final, revised version of the Methodology will be released in due course. In the meantime, please continue to treat the available version as draft and for guidance only: PV Nature Public Consultation 2.0: Methodology > Review the draft documentation The Plan Vivo Biodiversity Standard (PV Nature) draft documents are available to read via the links below.
