Successful 2019 stakeholder meeting

The Plan Vivo Foundation (PVF) celebrated its biennial Stakeholder Meeting on the 21^st and 22^nd of October 2019. The conference was held in the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI) and co-hosted by the Centre for Sustainable Forests and Landscapes (CSFL) to celebrate our long-standing relationship with the University of Edinburgh (UoE) and pay homage to the origins of Plan Vivo as a research project partnered with staff of UoE.

Since the last Stakeholder Meeting, Plan Vivo (PV) has grown to 23 projects across 17 countries. However, the landscape around climate change has also changed significantly with growing global awareness of the climate emergency, increasing the pressure from political protests, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) becoming more ambitious, further steps being taken to implement the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), and increasing demand for Plan Vivo Certificates (PVCs). The aim of this Stakeholder Meeting was therefore to discuss how PV can position itself and increase its impact in this continually-shifting landscape. It also aimed to gather information that could feed into the current update of the Standard, which is on-track to be completed by Q2 2020.

The event was attended by PV staff, project developers and coordinators, the private sector, offset reselling partners, sustainability consultants and researchers with a shared interest in sustainable climate change solutions that benefit local people.
