The Plan Vivo Foundation is currently seeking to recruit a Programmes and Operations Manager for a March 2012 start.

Job Description

The Plan Vivo Foundation is seeking to recruit a programmes and operations manager to support a range of functions relating to the growing portfolio of Plan Vivo projects, and to play a key role in the development of the Plan Vivo System and Standard.

The ideal candidate will be a good all-rounder, with a diverse set of skills and qualities.

Specific responsibilities are to:

  • Participate in the continued development of the Plan Vivo System and Standard, in consultation with Plan Vivo stakeholders, including the development of technical guidance and tools;
  • Manage communications and provide guidance and support to operational projects and those under development;
  • Coordinate the registration and process for new projects through review of documentation including Project Idea Note, Plan Vivo technical specifications and project design documents, and coordinating third-party audits as required by the Plan Vivo Standard;
  • Participate in the ongoing oversight and support of projects including annual reviews, Certificate Issuance and ongoing project verification.

Qualifications, Skills and Expertise

Necessary

  • Fluency in English
  • Degree in environmental or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly report writing
  • Numerate and comfortable interpreting and evaluating quantitative and technical data (e.g. application of technical methodologies).
  • Basic knowledge of the voluntary and compliance carbon markets and climate change policy and international frameworks
  • A minimum of two years’ relevant professional experience (preferable in the fields of forestry, environment, energy, international or rural development or commodities).

Desirable

  • Language skills over and above English, particularly Spanish or French
  • Experience and expertise in designing, operating, auditing against or using environmental or social standards and governance
  • Experience working in developing countries and/or with developing country organisations, particularly community-based organisations
  • Experience designing, working with or researching payments for ecosystem services projects and programmes
  • Masters degree in an environmental or related field

Remuneration

£22-26k, depending on experience
