What are technical specifications?
Technical specifications are developed in Plan Vivo projects for each land-use activity being implemented. They include:
- A methodology for calculating the carbon baseline and quanitfy the carbon impact.
- A management system for implementing and maintaining the land-use activity.
- Monitoring indicators for assessing progress and achievement of the carbon impact.
- Assessment of leakage, permanence and other risks.
- Assessment of likely ecosystem impacts.
Projects may develop methodologies from scratch but are often based on existing methods and methodologies used in other projects or approved under other standards (e.g. small scale CDM A/R methodologies, VCS methodologies, IPCC methods).
