A number of different organisations and bodies will be required to carry out various roles in the development and implementation of a Plan Vivo project. The Plan Vivo System does not prescribe a specific organisational structure for a project - the social and institutional context of a project is likely to vary between countries and regions. However, the organisations responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting Plan Vivo projects must ensure that the institutions required to carry out key Plan Vivo functions are in place. It is important that institutional responsibilities are clearly defined and that these reflect actual capabilities. The project should maintain a list of personnel with details of relevant qualifications and experience.
The following figure provides a skeleton organisational structure for a Plan Vivo project. (Note that the roles are not necessarily mutually exclusive, so for example technical, social and administrative functions could be carried out by one body).
