National regulators

If a project intend to sell carbon credits through the Clean Development Mechanism it will have to seek formal approval from the National Authority of the host country (a body specified by the government to act as the focal point for CDM projects). Even if a project is selling voluntary emission reductions independently of the CDM it should notify the national climate change focal point and ensure that it is abiding by national/international regulations.
