Management requirements

The technical specification must describe the minimum management requirements for a given system. These will be used as the criteria for evaluating plans made by producers. Those plans that meet the minimum requirements set out in the technical specification will be registered as having the specified offset potential.

Management requirements for forestry and land use systems will include:

  • production objectives
  • suitable environmental conditions
  • species
  • planting density
  • rotation length and thinning regime
  • use of products

Depending on the environmental and social situation other requirements could include irrigation, acquisition of seedlings, etc.

Management requirements for technology projects could, for example, include:

  • correct installation of equipment
  • keeping accurate records of electricity generation
  • ensuring that biomass comes from a sustainable source

Technical specifications may also include more general management information that will be useful for local extension workers and producers to improve the management of their systems.
