With a Plan Vivo project you can be sure that the investmenet is being used to develop productive resources and improve rural livelihoods in developing countries. The Plan Vivo process ensures that people are participating freely.
Plan Vivo works only with communities and small farmers in developing countries who wish to restore degraded land and develop sustainable agricultural and forestry systems. You can be sure that your carbon finance is contributing to sustainable development, not just creating a better margin for industrialists.
A response to the current debate about the validity of offsetting in relation to Plan Vivo will be available to view shortly
Plan Vivo recognises that reducing emissions at source is preferable to offsetting as a method of reducing CO2 emissions. Offsetting should therefore be used for those emissions which cannot be reduced. All buyers must agree to the Victoria Charter which set out principles for the responsible use of Carbon Offsets by companies and other organisations.
