May 2010 | AMBIO to develop new REDD programme in El Ocote

AMBIO, the project cooridinator of Scolel Te, plans to develop a REDD project in collaboration with communities in the Biosphere Reserve of the El Ocote  Jungle. The project is going ahead with the support of USAID and project partners include Conservation International and local research organisation ECOSUR.

Chiapas workshop 027

October 2009 | AMBIO hosts international ‘Scaling-Up Community Carbon Workshop’ in San Cristobal, Chiapas.

Over 35 organisations from 13 countries attended the workshop to look at how community carbon projects can increase their impact. Participants included WWF, USAID, CARE International, Conservation International, CCBA and Social Carbon.

This UK Department for Ijnternational Development sponsored report explores how the voluntary carbon market is supporting activities that are relevant to poor communities. Scolel Te was cited as one of the “best pro-poor voluntary offset schemes.”
